How is Raven Rock Ranch different from other horse therapy programs?

Many horse therapy programs such as Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center serves the disabled population. Raven Rock Ranch (RRR) works with an at-risk adolescent population.

 

What do you mean by "at-risk youth?

Troubled youth at-risk for various negative outcomes, ranging from mild to severe. Examples include: Truancy, drug or alcohol abuse, teen pregnancy, suicide, and emotional &/or psychological disturbances.

 

Who participates at Raven Rock Ranch?

Our students are usually adults and kids who have experienced a traumatic event, peer pressure or any occurrence that has left them needing a safe, welcoming place to fit in and have fun.


How we operate our program?

Our program is unique in that we have one rescued horse, one at-risk child, and one instructor, 100% of the time all at no cost to the participants.

 

What is the cost for participants?

There is no cost for our students. We are supported by donations.

 

How can I apply for acceptance into the program?

Students are usually referred by a church or an agency. If you are not connected to such an agency, call Sandy Matts, Admissions Director, for an interview.

 

Do you need volunteers?

YES! RRR always needs people who are willing to help. If you have a skill or are just willing to help in the project, call the Ranch office.

 

Do you need donations?

RRR operates 100% on donations from people like you. We need hay, feed and equipment, as well as many other things. Because RRR is an IRS-classified 501(c)(3), your donation is tax-deductible. Our Federal tax identification number is #27-3362900.

Is RRR associated with any particular religious congregation?

Raven Rock Ranch (RRR) is not associated with any particular religious congregation. However, RRR is a faith-based organization. The Ranch is founded on the same Judeo-Christian values that our nation was built upon. Faith on the Ranch is "lived" not "preached." Because the Founders and Board of Directors believe in God and the saving grace of His Son Jesus Christ, it is our greatest desire to serve God through faith and action in our love for Him and the support of families. It is our highest honor to serve children and families of all backgrounds.
