Don’t put any of your coats away yet! We went from shirtsleeves to raingear to winter parkas all in one month. Until just a week ago, I thought my cherry trees would not blossom. But blossom they did! Their sweet perfume poured over me with every breeze while I was teaching in our round pen. I know horses have a good sense of smell…Did they enjoy it as much as I did? They sure have been very happy lately J
Spring is the time for shots and for teeth care. Rusty, Rachel and Bergie all were de-wormed, got their spring shots and had their teeth “floated.” That means that the sharp edges were filed off by the vet. As you can imagine, they were not too excited about the process, but they will have a much happier mouth because of it. This is just maintenance, which is why your horse sponsorships are so important to us.
“F” and Rusty have MASTERED trotting! Both are flourishing under the tutelage of Dana, one of the 4 volunteers slated to become certified instructors. We will be able to expand our program with more helping hands. Now we will need more horses…
“S” and her Dad have been doing some serious bonding here at the ranch. Their relationship has grown in leaps and bounds, and they went turkey hunting together! What a fun weekend for a Dad & daughter.
The biggest news is that we qualified for The Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG campaign. It is a once a year event. The foundation and their corporate sponsors MATCH all donations given ONLINE by credit card on May 2nd only. The vetting process was extensive- they looked at our financials-past and future- and our own credentials. They called and interviewed us. It was through the kindness of a great family who believes in our program that we received the referral. Because we have a waiting list and we have made so many great connections in our charitable community, we know one thing for sure: RRR is bigger than just us. We are just trying to keep up! With the support that each one of you provides to RRR, we are able to put the infrastructure in place that will make our ranch a great place for rescued horses and at-risk kids. My paycheck comes in the form of smiles J
Thank you all for your donations, energy, time and prayers. I keep each one of you in my prayers- You are doing a great work and we appreciate all you do.
